Positive Advice To Help You Fight Your Cancer

Cancer in its many forms can affect many different parts of the body. Brain cancer obviously affects the brain. Colon "cancers" affects the colon, while lung "cancers" affects the lungs. After a period of time, these "cancers" can spread throughout the body and affect other organs, as well. To prevent cancer from reaching this stage, follow the advice in the following article.

Cancer
There are several "cancers" that are related to tobacco and alcohol use. Among them are "cancers" of the lungs, liver, mouth and throat. As you can see, there is a significant risk involved when people choose to smoke and drink alcohol to excess. You can decrease your risk of many types of cancer by not smoking, chewing tobacco and drinking alcohol.
You should surround yourself with loved ones when you are fighting cancer. They will be able to give you encouragement when you need it or just be there to support you through the tough times. It is important to know that you are loved and that you would be missed if you did not fight.

Exercise

You will feel better, look better, and have a better chance of avoiding "cancers" if you pay attention to your diet and get adequate exercise. Eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, drinking water and exercising regularly are the best ways to stay healthy.
When you're undergoing treatment for "cancers", try to stay active and keep up an exercise routine. When you exercise, you help to get the blood flowing throughout your body. Increased blood flow will help the treatment medication travel through the body more easily.
Maintaining a healthy diet can help you to keep your energy levels up if you have cancer. This disease is very draining on you emotionally and physically. Keeping high levels of energy is imperative if you hope to fight and beat this disease. Higher levels of energy mean you can exercise more and work to get healthy.

Nutrition

Some people diagnosed with "cancers" choose to opt out of conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation due to the damage they can cause to the body. They turn instead to alternative treatments such as nutrition therapy and vitamin therapy among many others. Some (but not all) of these treatments have been shown to shrink tumors and prolong life. Always check with your doctor before beginning any unconventional therapies.
Nutrition can play a key role in helping a cancer patient rev up their immune system and stay strong. Experts recommend a healthy diet that is rich in plant-based products, including lots of fruits, veggies, nuts and quality whole grains. Minimize processed foods and refined sugars, and try to limit meat and dairy to just one-third of your total caloric intake.
As stated before, cancer has many different forms that can affect different body parts. Different cancer forms can start out as organ specific, but they can later spread to other areas of the body. If you remember the advice from this article, you can prevent cancer from spreading throughout the body.

Chemicals From Clothes, Beauty Products on Skin

"Our daily routines -- what we eat, what we put on our skin -- also become a part of our skin," said study co-author Pieter Dorrestein, of the University of California, San Diego.

"Very few of us think about this, but all of this stuff can now be seen with the mapping technology we've now developed," said Dorrestein, who directs UCSD's Collaborative Mass Spectrometry Innovation Center.

According to the researchers, skin is the body's most exposed organ, covering a surface area of roughly six square feet. Yet its complex composition -- skin cells, microbes, and the by-products of environmental exposures and hygienic applications -- has remained largely unmapped and poorly understood.

To remedy that, Dorrestein's team set out to create a 3-D map of the skin. They recruited one man and one woman to serve as "skin models." Both participants were described as healthy, and both were asked not to shower or apply any hygienic or beauty product for three days leading up to the skin sampling.

Using cotton swabs, skin samples were then obtained from about 400 different skin sites on each participant. Those samples then underwent high-tech molecular analysis and were categorized as being of human, microbial or environmental origin. All of that information was fed back into a computer and turned into a 3-D topographical chart of the skin.

"If you look at the skin environment, there's of course our own skin's molecules, as well as all sorts of microbes and the traces of chemistry they produce," said Dorrestein, who is also co-director of the Institute for Metabolomics Medicine at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences in La Jolla, Calif.

Eight percent of skin swab content was attributable to lingering residues from beauty products and/or cosmetic ingredients, including such things as shampoo or sunscreen.

Are any of those residues harmful? Dorrestein and his colleagues said they just don't know -- the study wasn't designed to determine that. However, the "molecular signatures" of these chemicals are clear and abundant on human skin, the researchers said, and may interact and affect microbial populations on the skin.

A New Research Says Sleeping Pills Are Too Dangerous For Your Health

As the proverb goes, early to bed and early to rise, makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise. There is yet another proverb to emphasize the effect of a good night’s sleep by the saying of, the early bird catches the worm. Your eyes and brain also need the much awaited rest to avoid overexertion. So sleeping seven to eight hours daily is extremely important. However there  are  lots  of insomniacs around who think it very effective to take sleeping pills. While you can certainly get a good night’s sleep, there is many a danger of sleeping pills which you should read about before usage.

Reasons for people taking sleeping tablets

If you are a late night person or a party animal, it will certainly be difficult for you to get a good night’s sleep. People who are natural late sleepers or don’t get their nightly sleep at all can really wake up lethargic, irritable and cranky the following day. In short, sleep deprivation can be telling upon your health and affect our work performance as well as our social relations. But before you opt for a sleeping tablet, take a look at the following negative outcomes.

Dependability should be avoided

Once you have started taking sleeping pills, it is natural for a person to start depending upon them. Now as soon as a person senses that he needs sleeping pills to hit the sack each time, the dosage is automatically increased. It can lead to severe problems and studies have shown that people who use excessive tablets to sleep at night, are prone to premature demises. Some of the medications make you pause while breathing as you sleep. For people who already have sleep apnea, this problem can be detrimental and quite risky.

Changes in behavior pattern

The danger of sleeping pills  also includes rapid changes in behavior pattern. You tend to have memory lapses and muddle up things. Disoriented driving is often the cause of road accidents and this comes from taking excessive sleeping capsules. Excessive intake of sleeping pills can cause severe hangovers and drowsiness in the mornings. It would affect your behavior patterns a lot and also cause you to become distressed or depressed.

Other reactions

There are other reactions to having abundant quantities of sleeping capsules. Sometimes it causes allergy reactions, facial bloating and other erratic changes. Too much use of these pills can be termed as an addiction which is the first step towards taking drugs. Now people can even start hallucinating or imaging events or people.  Sleep walking or sleep eating or even other activities done during the night, unknowingly while you are in sleep, are all results of these overdose of sleeping pills.

Antidotes

While medicines are certainly beneficial for our health, too much of anything, ( read sleeping pills) is bad. So practice healthy sleeping habits and avoid tea or coffee before bedtime. Keep reasonable working hours and abide by them. Go to bed early after a hard day’s work and you will not need sleeping pills ever.

Eating More Red Meat Associated with Increased Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Eating more red meat over time is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in a follow-up of three studies of about 149,000 U.S. men and women, according to a report published online first by JAMA Internal Medicine.

Red meat consumption has been consistently related to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, but previous studies measured red meat consumption at a baseline with limited follow-up information. However, a person`s eating behavior changes over time and measurement of consumption at a single point in time does not capture the variability of intake during follow-up, the authors note in the study background.

An Pan, PhD, of the National University of Singapore, and colleagues analyzed data from three Harvard group studies and followed up 26,357 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study; 48,709 women in the Nurses` Health Study; and 74,077 women in the Nurses` Health Study II. Diets were assessed using food frequency questionnaires.
During more than 1.9 million person-years of follow-up, researchers documented 7,540 incident cases of type 2 diabetes.
"Increasing red meat intake during a four-year interval was associated with an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes during the subsequent four years in each cohort," according to the study.
The results indicate that compared with a group with no change in red meat intake, increasing red meat intake of more than 0.50 servings per day was associated with a 48 percent elevated risk in the subsequent four-year period. Reducing red meat consumption by more than 0.50 servings per day from baseline to the first four years of follow-up was associated with a 14 percent lower risk during the subsequent entire follow-up.
The authors note the study is observational so causality cannot be inferred.
"Our results confirm the robustness of the association between red meat and type 2 diabetes and add further evidence that limiting red meat consumption over time confers benefits for type 2 diabetes prevention," concludes the authors.

Interval Training and its Benefits for Men vs Women

New research in The FASEB Journal suggests that even though both men and women made more proteins in their muscles during interval training, men made more new proteins than the women.
interval training benefits men more than womenWhen it comes to reaping benefits of sprint interval training, it appears that men have won the battle of the sexes, if just barely. According to new research published in The FASEB Journal, men create more new proteins as a result of this exercise than women do. The good news, however, is that men and women experienced similar increases in aerobic capacity. This study is the first to directly measure the creation of proteins made to adapt to this mode of exercise. The study also uniquely used methods that measure the cumulative making of proteins during the entire three weeks to account for other daily living factors, effectively ensuring that the study was a measure of real life conditions. Finally, this study does not extend to other types of exercise, such as running, jogging and cycling, where women may benefit equally or more.
"It is hoped that future studies distinguishing differences in responsiveness between sexes, age groups or disease conditions could lead to better tailored exercise prescription for health benefits," said Benjamin F. Miller, Ph.D., study author from the Translational Research on Aging and Chronic Disease Laboratory at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.
To make this discovery, Miller and colleagues analyzed young, healthy, recreationally active males and females who completed sprint interval training (a series of very high intensity bouts of exercise on a stationary bike for short periods of time (30 second), three times a week, for three weeks. Outside of the study, the subjects carried on with their normal activities. Before and after the study, aerobic capacity was measured in both genders. In addition, over the course of the exercise training, researchers measured how many new proteins were made as well as what kinds of proteins were made in muscle. The making of muscle proteins was measured using metabolic tracers to determine the cumulative new amount of protein over the entire period.
"Just as we move into an era of personalized medicine, this report helps pave the way to personalized fitness," said Gerald Weissmann, M.D., Editor-in-Chief of The FASEB Journal. "In fact, the two are really part of the same health spectrum: medicine is usually fixes problems, and fitness usually prevents them."
